Brighton 1-3 West Ham: Hammers too good for Seagulls

West Ham maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 victory at Brighton on an entertaining Saturday in the Premier League.

After Manchester United had come from 2-0 down to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2, and Fulham scored late to deny Arsenal in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, something less dramatic had been anticipated on the south coast, where Brighton were 1/2 favourites.

West Ham though were excellent, summer signing James Ward-Prowse scoring his first goal for the club to put them ahead before Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio struck twice within five second-half minutes.

Antonio in particular was a menace to Brighton, who got one back through Pascal Gross and came close to a second, but never looked like they might pull off the comeback.

It took West Ham eight games to reach seven points last season. This time it's taken only three, and they head to Luton next Friday seeking a third win in four matches.
