Man Utd 1-3 Chelsea: David De Gea at fault again as Blues book FA Cup final date with Arsenal

Chelsea will play Arsenal in the FA Cup final after a comprehensive 3-1 win over Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday – in what was another difficult day for David De Gea.

If De Gea was possibly at some fault for Olivier Giroud’s first half opener, he was most certainly culpable for a shocking error to somehow allow Mason Mount’s second half strike to beat him.

Harry Maguire’s own goal sealed a fully deserved victory for Chelsea, with Bruno Fernandes’ late penalty a mere consolation.

It's now just one defeat in 20 for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but the manner of the performance will be a worry as will yet another error by De Gea - who must be under threat from Dean Henderson for next season's starting spot.

Chelsea are into a ninth FA Cup final this century as Frank Lampard seeks to end a promising first season as Stamford Bridge with a trophy.

Lampard's Chelsea will face Mikel Arteta's Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on August 1.

"Obviously it is a great achievement for us to get there," Chelsea boss Lampard said. "To win a semi is a great thing, to win a final is the thing.

"We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves but we can certainly enjoy the performance and the result today.

"I'm not sure where it ranks in the season. It is obviously right up there because of the size of the game and quality of the opponent.

"But we have had some good performances this season. We are progressing, we are getting better.

"There are always going to be some bumps but today was a performance of huge character, personality, work ethic, quality, so I'm very happy."
