Arsenal transfer news: Gunners favourites to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Arsenal are the favourites to complete a deal for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are said to be on the lookout for players to strengthen the midfield areas, and Rabiot has been touted as a target.

That has made Arsenal 10/11 favourites with Sky Bet to bring him to the Emirates before the conclusion of the winter window.

Rabiot has struggled to secure a starting position in the Juventus side this season having only featured in nine Serie A games.

He has also played a part in three Champions League fixtures - starting in the victories over Lokomotiv Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen.

Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal will be active in the market as they aim to bring in reinforcements for the second-half of the season.

"We're going to try to be in the market to see options that can strengthen the team," Arteta said on Thursday.

"That's for sure and that's our obligation, and we're going to be working on that. My obligation is to give my opinion on the things we can improve.

"Obviously we have some bad injuries, like Calum (Chambers) a few days ago. That's obviously going to change our plans at the back, but the reality at the moment is that we're not going to be able to do much.

"I’m more concerned at the moment about getting people back from injuries than I am the signings.

"I want to improve the players I have here, get everybody on board and understanding what we're trying to do. If something extra comes up and we think it's the right opportunity to improve what we have, let's do it."

Arsenal remain clear favourites in the market, with Chelsea and Manchester United 12/1 outsiders and Carlo Ancelotti's Everton at 16/1.
