Scott Brown insists he has nothing to prove against England

Scotland midfielder Scott Brown insists he has nothing to prove against England.

Paul Scholes, who scored a double in England's last visit to Hampden in 1999, recently questioned whether the Celtic skipper would have the same influence at a big club in England.

Brown has spent more than 10 years at Celtic and is comfortable with his decision to stay in Scotland.

The 31-year-old, who looks set to start in Saturday's World Cup qualifier, told Sky Sports: "I used to watch Paul Scholes, I used to love him as a player when I was growing up. He was a fantastic player.

"But I have not got a point to prove, (I have) not got to do down to England to do that.

"I have played in the Champions League and we have had some great results against some top-quality players.

"Everyone always mentions not going down to England. I chose to stay at Celtic for a reason. I have had opportunities to go down the road but I have always enjoyed my playing time at Celtic and that's why I am still there."
