The ninth PDC European Tour event of the season took place from September 1-3 as three-time defending champion Michael van Gerwen made his return to action at the Dutch Darts Masters.
The world number one missed the three World Series of Darts tournaments in Auckland, Melbourne and Perth to spend time with family following the birth of his first child so this will be the first time he's competed on the oche since his crushing 16-6 defeat at the hands of Phil Taylor at the World Matchplay.
Nevertheless, van Gerwen justified his odds-on favourtism to land the title for the fourth year in a row, defeating Steve Beaton in the final.
