Dave Chisnall booked his place in the semi-finals of the PDC Home Tour by winning a shootout with Geert Nentjes on a dramatic Friday night.
Chisnall overcame an opening 6-5 defeat to Australia's Damon Heta, who was playing at around 3am local time in Perth, by beating Darren Webster 6-2 and the impressive young Dutchman Nentjes 6-3 in a winner-takes-all clash to close a long night of hard-fought action.
The world number 11 averaged 95 in both his first two games and although he slipped slightly to 93 against Nentjes, it was still more than enough as his opponent ran out of steam after previously coming through a pair of last-leg deciders.
That was good news for followers of our tipster Chris Hammer, who backed Nentjes to win those two games at the double price of almost 5/1, while Chizzy is one of his outright selections for glory at 14/1.
The St Helens star topped Group 4 in this inaugural tournament's second stage and will now join Gary Anderson, Jelle Klaasen and Mike De Decker in the semi-final group round, which consists of eight players next week.
"You're always concerned, he is a great darts player," Chisnall said. "You go 4-0 up and take your foot off the gas. I did enough.
"It was a battle between me and him and thankfully I have won it."
Heta was in contention until he lost to Darren Webster, which saw him finish bottom.
