Match report
Yorkshire sealed a place in the Royal London One-Day Cup knockout stages despite suffering a five-wicket loss at struggling Warwickshire, for whom the in-form Ian Bell scored 98.
Opening pair Jonathan Trott (70) and Sam Hain (55) were also among the runs as the Bears chased down Yorkshire's 281 for eight with 15 balls to spare at Edgbaston.
Joe Root, Matthew Waite and Tim Bresnan all scored half-centuries to help Yorkshire recover from a poor start, but it was not enough to prevent the visitors from losing top spot in the North Group to Worcestershire, who defeated Durham at New Road.
However, the White Rose still secured progress to the next phase despite the defeat, although they are now relying on other results going their way if they are to clinch a home semi-final in Tuesday's final round of group fixtures.
For the Bears, their defence of the trophy was already over after six successive defeats.
After choosing to bat, Yorkshire lost Adam Lyth to the first ball of the match, from Keith Barker, which he edged to wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose.
Jonny Bairstow soon miscued Rikki Clarke to mid-on and Peter Handscomb drove expansively and nicked behind off Barker, who bowled his full stint straight off and was unlucky not to harvest better figures than 10-1-39-2.
From 50 for three, Root and Gary Ballance added 64 in 14 overs before the latter lifted Grant Thornton to long-leg.
Root, looking utterly assured, appeared set for his 11th List A century when he feathered an attempted cut at Clarke to the keeper having compiled a stylish 83 with seven fours.
That left Yorkshire 149 for five but Bresnan and Waite joined forces to exploit a short Hollies Stand-side boundary in a muscular sixth-wicket stand of 116 in 15.1 overs.
Bresnan contributed 65 for his ninth one-day half-century while Waite hit a List A-best 71 off 58 balls to help set Warwickshire - who began the day in bottom spot - a stiff target.
Trott and Hain gave the Bears' reply an excellent base, though, with a 124-run stand for the first wicket.
However, after the former England man sent up a skier off Waite, Azeem Rafiq struck three times in quick succession to bring Yorkshire back into the game.
He bowled Hain and Ambrose in the space of three balls and had Ateeq Javid caught at short fine-leg, leaving Warwickshire on 167 for four.
But captain Bell and Clarke halted the clatter and then gradually accelerated in a fifth-wicket stand of 111 in 106 balls
Bell, who had scored 51, 34, 93 and 104 in his previous four knocks, finally fell two runs short of his century, caught by Handscomb off Waite, but he had done enough to help Warwickshire over the winning line.
