T20 Blast results: Lancashire win Roses battle at Yorkshire as Tom Curran grabs hat-trick for Surrey

Lancashire claimed their third successive Roses Vitality Blast win, by nine runs, as they defended 170 to silence a sold-out Emerald Headingley.

England Lions fast bowler Saqib Mahmood claimed three wickets, including the key scalp of West Indies overseas star Nicholas Pooran for 43 off 31 balls in the 18th over, with the game on the line after the Lightning's challenging 170 for six.

Yorkshire failed to get 23 off the last two overs with three wickets in hand and then 19 off the last with one remaining, finishing on 161 for nine.

The Lightning completed the North Group double last year and have now won two from three games this, added to a no-result.

Yorkshire, for whom debutant off-spinner Jack Shutt returned two wickets, have now lost two of four with one win.

Hat-trick hero Curran

Tom Curran took a spectacular hat-trick in his first over as Surrey dismissed Glamorgan for 44 to claim a 97-run win in their Vitality Blast match at a sold-out Oval.

The England paceman dismissed David Lloyd, Colin Ingram and Billy Root to leave the visitors' reply to 141 in tatters.

South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir then took a triple-wicket maiden himself in a remarkable 12th over, sending Glamorgan hurtling from 40 for six to 40 for nine.

And off-spinner Gareth Batty quickly completed the rout, bowling last man Michael Hogan in the next over to finish with figures of three for seven, and dismiss Glamorgan for their lowest total in Twenty20 cricket.

Tahir's figures were three for eight and Curran's three for three in two overs as Surrey claimed their first Blast victory of the season.

Miles stars for hosts

Cheltenham-born Miles Hammond delighted his home crowd with a brilliant array of shots as Gloucestershire inflicted a first defeat on Middlesex in this season's Vitality Blast.

In front of a sell-out 5,000 crowd at the College Ground, the 23-year-old opener smashed 63, including nine fours and three sixes, to help see his side to a two-wicket win after the visitors had won the toss and elected to bat.

Without AB De Villers, who was nursing a hand injury, Middlesex could post only 148 for nine, Stevie Eskinazi making 40 and John Simpson 42 not out.

David Payne claimed three for 32, while Ryan Higgins and AJ Tye both returned two for 23.

In reply, Gloucestershire slipped to 84 for five, despite Hammond's efforts, before Benny Howell (33) and Jack Taylor (24) made sure they won with four balls to spare.
