Match report

Glamorgan and Somerset were forced to share the spoils in Cardiff after heavy rain led to their NatWest T20 Blast clash being abandoned after 17.2 overs of the home side's innings.

Glamorgan had raced to 171 for five with captain Jacques Rudolph unbeaten on 65 off 37 balls when the weather cut short proceedings, leaving both sides with a point apiece.

That was Somerset's first point of the competition after successive defeats, while South Group rivals Glamorgan now have three points from three games.

Despite the start of the match being delayed by 35 minutes due to rain, there was no reduction in overs and Somerset, after winning the toss, elected to bowl.

They gained early success when Lewis Gregory, with the second ball of his first over, had David Lloyd caught down the leg side by wicketkeeper Steve Davies for a single.

Aneurin Donald, however, was soon into his stride, pulling Craig Overton for four before sweeping him over the wicketkeeper for six.

Colin Ingram, who scored a 46-ball century against Sussex last week, then struck Tim Groenewald for 14 runs off three successive balls, which included a huge six into the members enclosure, before Gregory went for 22 runs in the very next over.

Somerset took their second wicket when Donald skied Gregory to mid-on after scoring 24 from 13 balls, but Ingram kept attacking, hitting Allenby for another six, before he was caught on the mid-wicket boundary for 39 from 21 balls.

Glamorgan were 92 for three at the halfway stage, but then lost their fourth wicket when Andrew Salter was superbly held by Max Waller off his own bowling.

Rudolph and Chris Cooke maintained the momentum with a rapid partnership of 52 in only 4.2 overs, which ended when Cooke struck a full toss from Groenewald to mid-off.

Rudolph was still going strong, having struck six fours and six maximums, and Glamorgan were on course for a big total, but the weather ended up having the final say.
