Day three report

South Africa recorded one of the most comprehensive Test victories in their history as they thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 254 runs inside three days in Bloemfontein to seal a 2-0 series win.

After the Proteas had run up a formidable 573 for four declared, Bangladesh were skittled for 147 in their first innings before being dismissed for 172 after being asked to follow-on.

This was the biggest innings victory South Africa have managed in Tests, and the 16th biggest of all time by any nation.

South Africa paceman Kagiso Rabada was the star of the show as the tourists were bowled out twice in under 86 overs, taking five-wicket hauls in both innings to finish with overall figures of 10 for 63 and take the man of the match award .

In the process, the 22-year-old also reached 100 Test-match wickets in what was only his 22nd appearance in the format. Rabada is also the leading Test wicket-taker in 2017 with 54 dismissals.

Mahmudullah (43), Imrul Kayes (32) and captain Mushfiqur Rahim (26) top-scored for Bangladesh in their second innings, but nobody came close to reaching three figures - something four South Africa batsmen managed in the match.

The Proteas were similarly convincing in winning the first game of the two-match series, running out winners by 333 runs in Potchefstroom. The two nations now face each other in three one-day internationals and two T20Is.

Day two report

Bangladesh look to be heading for defeat in their second and final Test against South Africa.

After a crushing 333-run loss in the first meeting, the tourists are on course for an even bigger drubbing in Bloemfontein.

Starting day two on 428 for three, South Africa motored to 573 for the loss of just one more wicket before opting against further punishment.

They declared with four centurions, with Hashim Amla (132) and Faf du Plessis (135 not out) joining day-one 100-makers Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram.

Having rested for the best part of two days, South Africa's bowlers then took over and wiped Bangladesh out for 147.

Kasigo Rabada got rid of openers Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar as part of a five-for-33 haul, while Duanne Olivier picked up three for 40. Liton Das accounted for almost half of Bangladesh's runs with 70.

Bangladesh survived 1.2 overs second time around before stumps were called on seven without loss, meaning they trail by a huge 419 runs.

Day one report

Centuries from openers Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram put South Africa in complete command on the opening day of the second Test against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein.

Hashim Amla (89 not out) and captain Faf du Plessis (62no) were also eyeing three figures as the Proteas, leading the two-match series 1-0, reached a formidable 428 for three at the close.

South Africa are now 1/9 with Sky Bet for victory while the draw is 7/1 and Bangladesh are 40/1.

Elgar (113) and Markram (143) put on 243 for the first wicket before the former top-edged Subashis Roy to Mustafizur Rahman at long leg.

Markram, whose maiden Test hundred came off 141 balls with 16 fours, fell when an inswinging yorker from Rubel Hossain removed his middle stump.

Temba Bavuma lasted just 12 deliveries before nicking Roy behind to Liton Das but that proved a rare moment of success for Bangladesh, who continued to toil as Amla and Du Plessis took root.

One of the few things to go wrong for South Africa came off the field. The Bloemfontein caterers were not ready to serve lunch at the end of the first session and the interval had to be extended by 10 minutes.
