Match report
Mumbai Indians claimed their sixth IPL win on the bounce after dismantling the Delhi Daredevils' top order to win by 14 runs.
The hosts looked clear second favourites at the halfway stage after posting just 142-8 but stunned the Daredevils with a brilliant bowling effort, reducing them to 24-6 in the seventh over.
A partnership of 91 between South African duo Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris kept Delhi's hopes alive but, ultimately, the early collapse proved too much to come back from as they closed on 128-7.
After his maiden IPL fifty in the previous game, Jos Buttler again looked in good touch, hitting three crunching fours and a pair of sixes before he was run out for 28 (from 18 balls).
By that stage, Rabada had yorked Parthiv Patel to mark his IPL debut with a wicket and once Buttler departed Mumbai struggled to build any momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals - leg-spinner Amit Mishra the pick of the Delhi bowlers, taking 2-18.
With such a small total to defend, early wickets were key if Mumbai were to have any chance of extending their winning streak.
As such, there was an intensity to their bowling and fielding from the off - and Delhi had no answer. Hardik Pandya ran out Aditya Tare before the opener had faced a ball and then Mitchell McClenaghan (3-24) went to work, ousting three of the Daredevils' top five in just two overs.
Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in to ensure none of the Delhi top six reached double figures and as Morris made his way to the middle, few would have predicted the match would go the distance.
However, Morris and Rabada batted sensibly, initially halting the Mumbai charge and, as the partnership grew, sow a few seeds of doubt in the hosts' minds.
The run rate continued to rise though and, with 28 needed from nine deliveries, Rabada was bowled by Bumrah's superbly disguised slower ball.
While Morris went through to his half-century, the game was up, allowing Mumbai to open up a four-point lead at the top of the IPL table.
