Match report
Shreyas Iyer struck a superb 96 off 57 balls to seemingly guide the Daredevils to victory, only to fall to the second ball of the final over with seven runs still required. But in came Amit Mishra, who hit back-to-back boundaries to secure a dramatic win.
Earlier, Aaron Finch blasted six boundaries and four sixes in his 39-ball 69 for the Lions as they posted what looked a decent score of 195-5, having been put into bat.
Gujarat struggled early on, losing Dwayne Smith (8) and skipper Suresh Raina (6) cheaply, but the innings sparked into life with Finch's arrival - the Australian smashing back-to-back sixes in Amit Mishra's ninth over.
Dinesh Karthik also played nicely, contributing 40 runs to a 92-run stand for the fourth wicket with Finch.
In reply, Delhi too struggled in the opening stages of their innings, with Sanju Samson (10) and Rishabh Pant (4) both falling in the second over, the latter ran out.
It was the first of three run outs in the innings, with Ravindra Jadeja brilliantly affecting the other two as Delhi were seemingly throwing the game away, slipping to 121-6 in the 14th over.
But Iyer continued to fire at the other end - smashing 15 fours and two sixes in his hugely impressive innings, while Pat Cummins provided some much-needed support with his 24 off 13 balls.
With two overs to go, the Daredevils were suddenly in the driving seat, needing only 15, but first Cummins fell to James Faulkner, and then Iyer to Basil Thampi to have the result in doubt before Mishra's match-clinching cameo.
