Match report

Afghanistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in their three-match T20 series against Ireland following a 17-run success under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

Chasing Afghanistan's 184 for eight, Ireland's 65 for two after six overs had them leading under the method when a rain delay forced the players off the pitch in Greater Noida, India.

However, Ireland suffered a batting collapse on the resumption of play with captain William Porterfield the first of seven wickets to fall in less than five overs as his side fell short of the revised target of 111 from 11 overs.

Teenage spinner Rashid Khan ripped through Ireland's order, taking a remarkable five wickets for the loss of three runs in the space of 10 deliveries, which included clean bowling big-hitter Kevin O'Brien.

Opener Stuart Thompson was earlier dismissed for five when he was caught by Najibullah Zadran off the bowling of Shapoor Zadran, before Porterfield (22) and Paul Stirling (34) - the only Ireland players to reach double figures - produced a second-wicket stand of 53 to keep their side in contention.

Victory for Afghanistan, which was built on Najeeb Tarakai's knock of 90 and Mohammad Nabi's unbeaten 34 - Barry McCarthy dismissed both in taking four for 33, gives them a 10th successive T20 win.

The final match of the series takes place on Sunday.
