Struggling top seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova summoned just enough precision to see off Lauren Davis and move into the semi-finals in Morocco.
Pavlyuchenkova prevailed 6-4 3-6 6-3 at the Grand Prix De SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat, then admitted scratching around for form.
"I didn't play good tennis," said Pavlyuchenkova.
"I was just struggling to find my game. She was playing a mix of aggressive and then with spin and stuff, so it didn't give me a rhythm.
"I just kept fighting until the last point and stayed in it all the way to the end. It worked out and I'm happy that I could turn it around."
Pavlyuchenkova will now face Sara Errani, who saw off third seed Daria Gavrilova 7-6 (7/5) 6-4.
Varvara Lepchenko cruised past Catherine Bellis 6-2 6-2 to set up a last-four battle with Francesca Schiavone, who toppled Tatjana Maria 6-1 4-6 6-3.
Barbora Strycova and Mona Bartel meanwhile, will face off in the Prague Open semi-finals.
Strycova ground past Katerina Siniakova 6-3 5-7 6-3 to book her spot in the last-four, after Barthel had dispatched Camila Giorgi 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (8/6).
Kristyna Pliskova rallied from a set down to see off Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-7 (5/7) 6-4 6-2.
