Cameron Norrie failed to reach his second ATP Tour final after being beaten by Alexander Zverev at the Mexican Open in straight sets.
Zverev continued his fine form of not dropping a set all week and lost serve just once in the 7-6 (0) 6-3 victory.
Britain's world number 64 dropped his opening service game but did well to match his German opponent in the first set, before Zverev took control in the tie-breaker, winning every point.
Zverev, the number two seed, hit 10 aces to Norrie's two and won 81% of his first serve points in the match.
The world number three reached the semis last year and will be hoping to go one better in his first final of 2019 against either John Isner or Nick Kyrgios.
Earlier, Kyle Edmund followed up his victory over Lukas Rosol by beating Yannick Maden in the quarter-final of the Oracle Challenger Series at Indian Wells.
The British number one fought back from a set down to overcome the German 3-6 6-0 6-3.
He was joined in the semi-final by compatriot Dan Evans, who swept past Jason Jung 6-6 6-4.
