Home favourite Gael Monfils into final of French Open

Gael Monfils kept the French flag flying as he marched into the Open Sud de France final.

The top seed and world number nine beat Serbian Filip Krajinovic 7-6 (4) 6-2 to move to within one victory of his third title in Montpellier.

Monfils told the ATP website: "It was a great win today. I was very solid. I think Filip played great in the first set and then I changed my game a little bit to be more aggressive and it worked.

"I was pleased with my performance. So far, a great week. Hopefully tomorrow is going to be the same."

Monfils will face Canada's Vasek Pospisil, who beat Belgian David Goffin 6-3 1-6 7-5.

Jiri Vesely saved match points in the final-set tie-break for the second consecutive match to reach the final of the Tata Open in Pune.

After surviving two match points during his quarter-final victory against Ilya Ivashka on Friday, the unseeded Czech saved another four in beating Ricardas Berankis in a marathon match which finished 6-7 (8) 7-6 (3) 7-6 (7).

Vesely will meet eighth seed Egor Gerasimov of Belarus, who beat James Duckworth 7-6 (2) 6-4 to reach his first ATP Tour final.

In Argentina, home favourite Diego Schwartzman will take on third seed Cristian Garin in Sunday's Cordoba Open final.

Top seed Schwartzman beat Laslo Djere 6-1 1-6 6-2 while Garin prevailed 2-6 6-2 6-2 over Andrej Martin.
