Kyren Wilson rattled off four frames in a row to beat Peter Ebdon 4-2 in the final of the Paul Hunter Classic.
Wilson, who was a beaten semi-finalist at the World Championship last season and is widely tipped to get his hands on that trophy at some stage, found himself 2-0 early on but dominated from there to win convincingly.
Ebdon dropped just four frames in the five matches he won to reach the final but had no answer when Wilson found his stride with a 120 clearance in the fourth frame.
The Kettering man had been taken the distance by Daniel Wells and Peter Lines in his quarter- and semi-finals but avoided such drama here to become the 13th English winner of the event in just 15 editions.
Ebdon, 16 years on from his World Championship success, will at least draw comfort from this impressive run to the final having lost in the first round of the recent World Open.
In fact, it was his first appearance in a ranking final since 2012 whereas Wilson, playing in his fifth, has been a regular feature at the business end of tournaments albeit with just one previous victory - the 2015 Shanhai Masters - prior to this one in Germany.
