1pts win Liang Wenbo (+1.5) to beat Mark Selby at 10/11
Current World Champion Mark Selby signalled his return to form when reaching the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix last week and meets Liang Wenbo in round two of the Welsh Open tonight.
Selby only lost out in a final-frame decider to Ding Junhui in Preston and looked in good form when winning his opening match here, compiling a couple of centuries on the way to a 4-2 defeat of Christopher Keogan.
He is 2/5 for his round two clash with Wenbo but might not get things all his own way against a talented opponent.
Wenbo is more than capable of mixing it with the best when on song, as he did at The Masters recently when producing a host of big breaks to push Judd Trump close.
With a solid win here already under his belt, the world number 19 could be capable of covering the handicap (+1.5) and looks worth a small interest.
Fellow countrymen John Higgins and Stephen Maguire face off in another of the night’s interesting matches having both secured impressive first round wins.
Higgins in the 8/15 favourite for that one but Maguire is enjoying a good season and appears to have bounced back well from last week’s semi-final defeat to Ronnie O’Sullivan.
