Kyren Wilson scored the 13th maximum break in World Snooker Championship history during his impressive 10-5 victory over Ryan Day at the Crucible.
The maximum capped an outstanding display from the 2020 runner-up who knocked in five centuries across the day as he marched towards a second-round meeting with John Higgins.
Day had earlier moved into a 2-0 lead with a break of 75, only for Wilson to wipe out that advantage with fine clearances of 133 and 83 before the mid-session interval.
The 2020 Crucible runner-up maintained his momentum in spectacular fashion in the fifth frame as he became the ninth different player in history to make a 147 break at the World Championship, which sees him rewarded with a £40,000 bonus.
Ronnie O'Sullivan and Stephen Hendry have both made three apiece while the others are Cliff Thorburn, Jimmy White, Mark Williams, Ali Carter and Neil Robertson. Click here to watch them all.
There was no let up from Wilson for the remainder of the session and he extended his lead to 6-3 thanks to further breaks of 61, 54 and 52.
To his credit, Day kicked off the evening session by winning the first frame of the night, but Wilson was in no mood to open the door to a comeback and he responded in brilliant fashion.
Back-to-back centuries saw him extend his advantage to 8-4 and when he followed up with a run of 94, the match was all but over.
Day gave those cheering a late finish some hope as he pulled a frame back, but it came as no surprise when Wilson signed off with another century to suggest he is a serious title contender this year.
Wilson told Eurosport afterwards: "That was probably one of my best sessions I've ever had at the Crucible. It was nice to follow on from the Tour Championship – I feel like I'm in a similar rhyhtm, similar form, similar scoring pattern.
"I've been really looking forward to this off the back of Hull, so it was nice to get out there and produce that sort of the snooker."
On making his first Crucible maximum, Wilson added: "Amazing. I try and really keep myself grounded. I try not to ever let myself get carried away, but I let myself get carried away today because that's pure history.
"I'm so proud I managed to do that."
