Cao Yupeng hit a stunning 147 as he breezed into the second round of the Dafabet Scottish Open in Glasgow.
Yupeng notched his first-ever maximum break in tournament play to win the third frame of his 4-0 victory over Andrew Higginson and become only the third player from mainland China to achieve the feat, following Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo.
The 27-year-old was in devastating form as he reeled off further breaks of 72, 56 and 64 to seal a one-sided victory, with Higginson only managing to score a total of 53 points in the match.
Later, Ronnie O'Sullivan picked up where he left off on Sunday night, racing to a 4-1 victory over Michael Georgiou.
Having swept aside Shaun Murphy in the evening session of the UK Championship final, O'Sullivan showed no signs of a hangover as he signed off with a 136 break to move into round two.
Murphy did, however, struggle to repeat his York form as he slumped to a 4-3 defeat to Daniel Wells.
Next for O'Sullivan is a clash with Robert Milkins, who beat Oliver Lines 4-2 despite a 119 break from the eventual loser.
Ali Carter was a convincing 4-0 victor against Anthony Hamilton, a 125 break in frame two the highlight, while Michael Holt made breaks of 91 and 101 as he thrashed Robbie Williams by the same scoreline.
In the evening, Jimmy White ran out a 4-1 winner over Akani Songsermsawad, the young Thai who took O'Sullivan the distance last week.
Anthony McGill whitewashed Ryan Day in a one-sided 4-0 victory.
