Sheila Lavery is taking on the big guns with Burgundy Boy in the JRA Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.
Surprisingly for a colt by the sprinter Red Clubs, the Roscommon maiden winner already appears to be crying out for further but a lack of options has somewhat forced Lavery's hand into running him in the Group Three.
"He's more of a miler, if I'm being honest," said the County Meath handler.
"But we're running him here because there isn't really anywhere else to go with him.
"The ground is going to fine for him and he's in good form so why not have a go?
"We may as well take our chance as there aren't many runners.
"He's been improving with every run and Gary Carroll came in to ride him in work the other day and said he felt like he'd improved again."
Aidan O'Brien has claimed the last three renewals of the race, including with subsequent Guineas winners Gleaneagles and Churchill.
This year he relies upon Berkeley Square and The Pentagon, who won by eight and a half lengths last time out.
Jim Bolger runs Theobald, who beat Berkeley Square on debut before chasing home the O'Brien-trained Actress in the Anglesey Stakes.
It is a race Bolger traditionally aims his best juvenile at, having won it with Teofilo and New Approach in successive seasons in 2006-07.
Pat Prendergast is represented by Red Persian, second to the smart Beckford on debut and a winner at Leopardstown last time.
Ger Lyons runs Would Be King, runner-up to the smart Gustav Klimt most recently.
