A torrent of troubled water has flowed under the bridge since KAMEKO won the 2000 Guineas in early June, but a return to the same course and distance of his career-defining success could see this lovely colt back on track in what represents a drop in class in the Group Two Shadwell Joel Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

The son of Kitten's Joy has a 5lb penalty to carry but his form at a mile is outstanding and, with better luck in running, he would have been first or a very close second behind Mohaather in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in July.

Either side of that painful-to-watch debacle, Kameko failed to shine in a Derby which was torn apart by the front-running Serpentine and then ran like a non-stayer when fourth in the Juddmonte International over an extended mile and a quarter.

Even so, Andrew Balding's stable star still travelled well against the likes of Ghaiyyath and Magical until the fuel ran dry at York and, if remaining at his best, this looks a good opportunity.

Last year's runaway winner Benbatl is the danger, though faces tougher opposition than when bolting up from the subsequently disappointing pair King Of Comedy and Zaaki 12 months ago.

The progressive daughter of Frankel was ridden to pick up the pieces and claim some Group One bold type when chasing home Love in the Yorkshire Oaks last time, but still finished in front of the Nassau runner-up One Voice.

That was a well executed ride by Ryan Tate but Alpinista's previous defeat of Award Scheme (third in the Galtres) and Queen Power (fourth in the Nassau) at Salisbury also gives her a solid chance here albeit against the promising, raised-in-class unknown quantity Katara who has won her last two starts by an aggregate of nine lengths.

Miss Rausing's familiar green and white hooped silks can also be carried with distinction by ARRIVISTE in the Tasleet British EBF Rosemary Stakes.

This daughter of Sea The Moon has taken on some serious opposition in France at Deauville and Paris-Longchamp in her last two starts over a mile and a quarter, failing on both occasions to get home behind Raabihah and Angel Power respectively.

Oddly, Arriviste seemed to get the trip well when going down by a neck to the aforementioned Award Scheme (the pair six lengths clear) at Salisbury in July but her prominent style of racing could just be suited by this drop back to a mile in what looks an open event.

The official ratings suggest she has a much better chance than the odds available and there are few better handlers of a filly in the country than her trainer Rae Guest who is enjoying an excellent season.
