Simon Holt with four best bets for Haydock on Saturday

Forever In Dreams is a 22/1 Betfair Sprint Trophy fancy for Simon Holt and he has three other fancies on the Haydock card.

Recommended bets:

1pt win Forever In Dreams in 4.10 Haydock at 22/1

1pt win Great Scot in 2.25 Haydock at 8/1

1pt win Ranch Hand in 1.50 Haydock at 16/1

1pt win Corellii in 3.35 Haydock at 13/2

GROUND conditions could have a significant influence on the results at Haydock on Saturday and, in the absence of Advertise and Ten Sovereigns, the Betfair Sprint Cup has an open look with FOREVER IN DREAMS fancied to spring a surprise.

This lightly-tried ex-French-trained filly hasn't raced since chasing home Advertise at Royal Ascot in June, where she was bumped leaving the stalls and finished just in front of Hello Youmzain (over half her odds here) having previously scored nicely over this course and distance.

Twice a winner on soft going in France, the now Aidan Fogarty-handled daughter of Dream Ahead (who won this race in 2011) is open to further improvement and can run well above her odds.

Earlier, GREAT SCOT boasts good claims in the Bet In Play On The Betfair Exchange Superior Mile Stakes returning to the scene of two previous victories (one on heavy ground).

Tom Dascombe's gelding rounded off his two-year-old campaign with a creditable fifth behind the 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia in the Vertem Futurity at Doncaster, finishing on the heels of both Phoenix Of Spain and Circus Maximus.

After a decent reappearance at Newbury where he finished second to Mohaather, Great Scot ran ninth in the Guineas and third in the German Guineas and was then given a break after looking a non-stayer over ten furlongs at Royal Ascot.

In a change of tactics, he made the running at Salisbury on his recent comeback, weakening only late on and being beaten just over a length into fourth behind Kick On.

That should have put Richard Kingscote's mount spot on for this and, with the stable always worth respecting at Haydock and among the winners this week, Great Scot can deny the mud-loving veteran Here Comes When's bid to repeat last year's victory.

In the opening mile-and-six-furlongs Better Odds On The Betfair Exchange Handicap, RANCH HAND could be in his element with the emphasis on stamina.

The son of Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden (out of the useful Victoria Montoya who stayed two miles) relished the deep fibresand at Southwell on his first two starts and must be well regarded as he then ran fifth behind Anthony Van Dyck in the Lingfield Derby Trial before filling the same position behind Spanish Mission on fast ground in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket.

On the latter occasion, Ranch Hand got badly outpaced three furlongs from home but was staying on again in the closing stages, and this looks a much more suitable race on his handicapping debut.

Baghdad (far left) wins the opening handicap on 1000 Guineas day from Corelli and Fire Fighting

Finally, I can't let CORELLI go unselected in the Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup after his near-miss for this column at York over a mile-and-a-half last month when he was narrowly beaten by the 33-1 chance Tamreer despite battling on gamely all the way to the line.

Frankie Dettori's mount, a big horse who should have little difficulty shouldering top weight, is steadily progressive and ought to appreciate this extra two furlongs (he is closely related to the St Leger winner Lucarno) while softer ground may help him too.

Earlier Newmarket seconds behind Baghdad and Kelly's Dino this season look solid efforts.
