Our star duo have a selection at Wolverhampton as they look to start the new season in style.
1pt e.w Tasmanian Legend in the 6.00 Wolverhampton at 16/1 (General - 1/5 1,2,3,4)
Tasmanian Legend is very much one of those black-and-white horses that can be left well alone on the turf (six runs, not so much as a sniff of a place) but is always of interest when he runs on the all-weather, with three wins from seven starts on artificial surfaces. Two of those successes have come over C&D, most recently in a better race than this in March when 1lb higher in the weights.
His first three starts this summer, all on turf, did little more than see his mark come down six pounds to something much more workable, and he duly took a step back in the right direction when returned to Tapeta here last time out, keeping on well to finish a four-length fifth despite finding a bit of trouble on the bend.
He’s got the inside stall to work from and has won from that stall here before, which can be viewed as a positive, and the last time he ran in cheekpieces, he showed improved form when with James Ferguson. The return of headgear is therefore another reason to be optimistic, as is the slight ease in grade, with Tasmanian Legend having won both times he’s raced in Class 5 handicaps on Tapeta.
