12.20 Warwick
Last day of the year, let's see if we can go out in style. After all, points, like calories, don't count Christmas week, so it is to Warwick we go.
DEFINITE DREAM was still in front when capsizing three out in a race won by That’s Nice from subsequent Listed winner Honky Tonk Highway, and she also shaped very well on her handicap debut here prior to that, finishing second to Ez Tiger.
The step up in trip will suit given the way she stayed on there and this will be a lot easier than her latest venture. She's readily preferred to the moderate Elle Est Beau, who is exposed a a pretty ordinary performer but is sure to be well backed given connections.
Main danger is likely to be Stardhem who showed improved from when making most of the running at Lingfield last time and hails from a yard getting plenty of winners in recent weeks.
That’s The Badger also hails from a yard doing remarkably well, but he needs to bounce back from a poor run at Leicester where he beat only the ambulance.
1.20 Warwick
There are many more negatives than positives here, with I See You Well coming from a yard that’s struggling, Ballinslea Bridge having very little to show for his efforts in the last two years, and Top Ville Ben seemingly a light of former days, albeit with a stable having winners for fun this month.
Special Acceptance shunned a golden opportunity by making mistakes at Huntingdon last time and has now lost his last 16 starts stretching back over four years.
That tale of woe leaves us with SUPERVISOR who returns from an absence for Venetia Williams, and it goes without saying that the lack of a recent run is essentially a positive for the yard, with such a fine record over fences after an absence.
32F21 – the F when looking like winning at Ludlow – are Supervisor's form figures off a break since going chasing, and the ten-year-old will not lack for fitness, while being almost a youngster in terms of his age in a contest such as this. There is plenty to like and he’s been found a very suitable opportunity.
1.50 Warwick
By far and away the most interesting one here is BALLYMACKIE.
I’ve seen him twice already this season, outclassed at Cheltenham both times but he's a proper chasing type, and it looks like they have been looking for the mark. On go cheekpieces and a mark of 105 is a gift on point-to-point form; the horse it beat at Loughanmore is now with Warren Greatrex and is rated 112. The Laura Morgan yard are finally starting to fire as well.
Plenty to like about his chances today.
