Richard Fahey guides us through his team for Saturday and Sunday

There was more Group race success on Saturday on a busy weekend for our columnist. Check out his guide to his Sunday team.

We took him to Ireland for a big sales races but he wasn’t quick enough for the six furlongs there. He ran ok stepped up to a mile in a nursery at Doncaster last time so we’re sticking to the trip here and the track should be fine for him.

1.15 Chester – Mere Green

I’d love to see her win a race. We’ve set her some very tough tasks this year in the likes of the May Hill and Sweet Solera and on form she’d be the one to beat in this. I hope those tough races haven’t taken a toll but she’s in great order and really should go close from a good draw.

1.15 Chester – Tommy And Andy

I’d imagine he needs to go down the nursery route and he requires this third run to get a mark. I’ve been happy enough with him but he needs to find more to be winning today.

1.40 Musselburgh – Bois De Norton

He ran a good, solid race at Leicester last time which came as a relief after he was left 20 lengths at the start on debut at Beverley. William Haggas’ horse Mayaas will take the world of beating in this but if he doesn’t fire my fellow will be there to pick up the pieces.

1.40 Musselburgh – Brave Blossom

I’d imagine it’s the nursery route with her. Her form so far is only ordinary but she’s a very well-bred daughter of Mayson. It would be great to win a small race with her but I’d be surprised if it was this one.

2.05 Nottingham - Deb's Delight

He works well at home and we’re stepping him right up in trip, from six furlongs to a mile, and I’m hoping he runs a good race. He shows plenty at home and this is his second run after a wind op so the extra distance and more confidence in his breathing, could spark improvement.

She was very disappointing at Chepstow last time and we don’t know why. She has to bounce back from that here but would have a small chance if she did.

2.50 Musselburgh – Powerallied

Five furlongs at Musselburgh is going to suit him and he’s been running ok of late. He’s on a mark from which he can be competitive, he’s drawn ten which is a good slot and he’s a horse I’d like to see win a race before the end of the season.

3.00 Chester – Selected

He steps back up to six furlongs having chased home Riffaa Wonder in a nursery here the other day. We had no excuses and were beaten by a better horse that day but know he handles the track, has a decent draw in three and will run his race again.

3.35 Chester – Penwortham

He ran well when third here two runs ago and nothing went right for him back here next time. He was drawn 11 there – and again here which makes life very difficult. We’ll have to drop in and ride for luck but he’s won from a wide berth around here before and it can be done if the cards fall right.

4.10 Chester – Gabrials Boy

He’s probably just about ready to get back on track now having needed his first two runs back. Stall eight probably isn’t ideal but the ground will be fine, he’s effective around here and in great form at home.

4.10 Chester - Gabrial the One

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-3| J: Connor Murtagh(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  79| C

He made a very good start to the season but is paying the price now and I don’t think he has anything in hand from a mark of 79. He ran OK behind Society Red here last time though and we know he goes well around here.

Barry McHugh felt he ran a lot better than the finishing position suggests when seventh in the Society Red race at the last meeting. He’s a horse who’s going to pop up and win a race like this at some stage.

4.45 Chester – Shabeeb

Age: 7|  Weight: 9-2| J: Barry McHugh| T: R A Fahey| OR:  82| D

He ran really well when just touched off by Always Resolute here last time. They didn’t go a great gallop there which might have suited him and he’s drawn out in 13 here. He’s another who’ll have to slot in and be ridden for luck.

5.00 Nottingham – Ginger Max

Ginger Max16
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-9| J: Megan Nicholls(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  67

We’ve reverted to sprinting with him and to be fair he ran well when third over five furlongs at Sandown last time. The step up to six will be fine for him and it would be no surprise to see him win a race like this – but he isn’t one I’d have full trust in.

5.10 Musselburgh – Pacino

Pacino9
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-10| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  68

He doesn’t like slower ground and this looks the right place to bring him. I’m sure the conditions were behind his run at Ayr last time but we’re coming back quick and are drawn wide enough in nine but he can be competitive in this grade.
