Ben Linfoot has the Sunday best bets with his Nap in action at Hamilton.
Tristan Davidson looks like he’s getting to grips with ROUGH DIAMOND who can go one better than last time in the Follow Us On X @HamiltonPark Handicap over six furlongs. The seven-year-old arrived from Edward Lynam’s in August and he has got better with each run for his new yard, his second at Newcastle last time out over six furlongs a big step in the right direction. It looks significant that Davidson has pointed him at Hamilton, a track the trainer does so well at, and he can break his duck for his new stable at the fifth attempt.
Chris Gordon’s AUCUNRISQUE looks the class act on Plumpton’s Sunday card and he can go in in the Friends & Family Remembering Norman Sharpe Handicap Hurdle over two miles. The eight-year-old dropped 10lb in three hurdles runs earlier in the year so he looks well treated freshened up and he has a good record after time off. He’s won over the course and distance off a higher mark and with Freddie Gordon taking a further 5lb off a bold bid from the front is expected.
Richard Fahey endured a frustrating time of things at Ayr last week (four seconds) but is backed to hit the target at Hamilton on Monday courtesy of SHOWHOUND in the Book Your Christmas Party Here @Hamilton Park Handicap. The chestnut hasn't added to his maiden win from last August but looks to have found his level now on the back of an improved third at Chester earlier this month. He's come down 10lb in the weights since the start of the year and almost capitalised in the first-time cheekpieces (retained), staying on to be beaten less than a length. He should like this stiff track and the ease underfoot will hold no fear either.
WHATABOUTYEH hasn't run since July 2023 but trainer Sam England can get them ready and the horse won first time out earlier that year so he looks worth chancing on his belated return to action. Disappointing at Cartmel when sent off 10/11 favourite on his last start, the ground was bottomless that day and he travelled like a very well-handicapped horse before weakening. Something was clear amiss but he'll be happier back on some decent ground here and his earlier arc of improvement suggests he could be one to follow this autumn.
LADY AVA gave a clear indication that her turn was fast approaching again when running on for second over seven furlongs at Southwell last month. The handicapper has left her alone on a mark of 60 - fully 8lb lower than the start of the year having signed off in 2023 with a Catterick nursery success off 65 - and she's still not yet exposed as an all-weather performer after just three starts on synthetics. Stepping back up to the extended mile here looks a clear positive and Rossa Ryan returns to the saddle too.
