She shaped well wen second to Finisk River at Bangor last time and CLARAROSE can return to winning ways for the Skeltons. Held up in a slowly-run race, she was doing all her best work late and while there’s not an obvious pace angle in this, she’ll relish going up to three-and-a-quarter miles.
He’s been knocking on the door of late and SYCAMORE GAP looks to have been found a good opportunity. He’s been placed in four of his last five starts (beaten less than a length in each) and came seven lengths clear of the third when chasing home Mon Etoile last time. Kayia Fraser claims a useful five pounds off.
He made a promising start for new connections when second to Bowood at Nottingham last time and EDVARD GREIG will take a bit of beating if in the same form. Dylan Cunha’s charge races from an unchanged mark and will handle the ground which has eased significantly following Monday’s rain. A forecast strong pace is also in his favour.
Does anything scream heavy ground at Goodwood more than a Jack Channon-trained son of Sixties Icon? I don’t think so and TIRIAC looks a good bet in the Heineken Handicap over six furlongs on Wednesday. Twice a winner on heavy ground from three goes, Tiriac will relish conditions and he has a nice mix of good recent form and a falling handicap mark to call on. As long as he settles better than last time – and it’s unusual for him to pull so hard – he should be right in the mix here.
MAVETHEFORCEBEWIVU ran the best race of her fledgling career on nursery debut at Beverley last time and off the same mark she’s worth backing in the Start Your Racing TV Free Trial Nursery Handicap at Redcar. The daughter of Land Force was sent off 50/1 for handicap debut last time but belied those odds with an excellent run in second behind Greek Gift. The slight step up to a mile looks in her favour as well.
Neil Mulholland’s team are in good form and he could have another winner with INSPECTOR LYNLEY in division two of the 2m4f handicap hurdle at Perth. This horse won off just 4lb lower in a Stratford handicap 10 weeks ago and while it wasn’t much of a race he at least showed a good attitude to get the job done. Such a confidence boost could see him kick on and he’s had plenty of time to recover.
He wouldn’t be rock solid but in a weak race OLD SAXONY could be the best handicapped in this 1m3f handicap at Kempton. His last run at Southwell was particularly disappointing but subsequent events are suggesting that was quite a hot race and he’s worth another chance. After dropping 9lb in three runs the handicapper has certainly given him a good opportunity here.
