David Ord's landed a couple of Wednesday winners including a 15/8 Nap - Matt Brocklebank is in the hot-seat with the tips for Thursday.
A return to Newcastle could be just the ticket for three-year-old CURIOUS ROVER, whose only previous all-weather start resulted in a neck second over this course and distance around this time last year. He's been pretty consistent on the whole again this term, following a good juvenile campaign in 2023, and gained a deserved success at Redcar last month. The subsequent Catterick assignment was a bit stiff but his current mark looks workable and getting back on the all-weather may be the key, along with a promising set-up as he looks likely to be able to dictate matters from the front in this small field lacking obvious rivals for early supremacy.
It's hard not to side with HOT TO DOT, who is 4lb ahead of the assessor after last week's neck second at Newcastle. Getting her out again so soon looks a wise move and there should be plenty more to come from this thrice-raced filly who defied odds of 16/1 to win first time out in a Pontefract novice back in April. She clearly handles the all-weather, as you'd expect from her pedigree, and the Gemma Tutty yard is in good nick again at present (a winner and another second in the past fortnight).
Jamie Snowden has hit the ground running this autumn (3-11 in the past fortnight) and his WENDIGO should be up to winning this on paper and may get his own way out in front which will be a bit of a bonus. He went down fighting when beaten a length on hurdling debut at Hexham last month and although beaten at short odds there, compensation awaits with the pipe-opener under his belt.
The Get A Run For Your Money At BetVictor Handicap Chase doesn't look an easy starting point over fences for HIGH TREASON but he's one who shaped last year like he'd be better when sent over the larger obstacles and trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies' hot run of form shows no sign of relenting just yet. The five-year-old improved for the fitting of a tongue-tie last term and he showed a game attitude when signing off with a handicap hurdle success at Southwell in April. A 6lb higher mark may not be enough to stop him if he improves for chasing as hoped.
FIBONACCI SEQUENCE can't have been quite right when completely flopping at Thirsk last time out and the subsequent 52-day break near enough confirms the suspicious. But judge her on two previous novice starts at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford and she'd be in with a real chance of landing this handicap event back at the last-named venue. Stepping up to 10 furlongs shouldn't be a problem being a daughter of Gleneagles and, with a good draw in two and Liam Wright claiming 5lb in the saddle, she is worth another chance.
