Oli Bell with his best bets for Newmarket on Saturday where Andrew Balding looks to be a trainer to follow.
1.50 Newmarket
2.55 Newmarket
3.35 Newmarket
4.45 Newmarket
Elarqam is my bet to win the QIPCO 2000 Guineas. He's bred for the job being a son of Frankel and Attraction and looked the real deal in winning both his juvenile starts at York and Newmarket. He was particularly impressive when winning the Group Three Tattersalls Stakes on the Rowley Mile in the autumn and connections have been delighted with his preparation.
Elsewhere, Andrew Balding has his team in good form and he supplies two of my selections. Brorocco ran well to finish fifth in the Cambridgeshire over the same course and distance as he tackles in the opener at 1.50 and will give a good account of himself.
Count Octave is taken to shake up hotpot Defoe in the Dunaden Jockey Club Stakes at 2.55. The selection is an imposing son of Frankel who I think is capable of showing improvement this season.
Finally, Stephenson's Rocket is the bet in a fascinating Havana Gold Newmarket Stakes at 4.45.
Ed Walker has always held the Teofilio colt in very high regard and he routed his field at Redcar on his final start at two. Clearly this is a much tougher test but he's a horse to follow this season.
