Richard Hannon Racing raise £10,000 at inaugural open morning

Richard Hannon Racing raised £10,000 at their inaugural open morning, sponsored by Unibet, on Sunday 1st September in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Greatwood Charity as fans were given the chance to go behind the scenes at one of the country’s leading training facilities.

Visitors were treated to a wonderful morning which began with a parade of some of the yards stable stars including Gimcrack winner Threat and Mum’s Tipple, fresh from his sensational 11-length victory at York’s Ebor meeting. Twenty of the yards top performers were then put through their paces on the gallops in the glorious Wiltshire sunshine as Richard commentated throughout.

Once finished on the gallops, guests were given the opportunity to take a closer look around the iconic Herridge Stables built by Richard’s father, Richard Hannon Snr. The yards farrier and veterinary team set up educational demonstrations giving further insight into what goes on at a racing yard.

Children’s entertainers Sharky and George were on hand to provide fun and games for the younger members of the audience. Footballer Charlie Austin was also there to answer questions and take part in the football challenges.

Organisers passed on their thanks to Tony Gorman, senior head lad, for all his help in the lead up to the event and on the day and to Ross Doyle and jockeys Sean Levy and Pat Dobbs, who made extremely generous donations.
