John Gosden claimed his fifth Nell Gwyn Stakes success as Daban defied odds of 12/1 to score under Frankie Dettori.
Seen just once on the track previously when taking a Kempton maiden in November, the daughter of Acclamation sprouted wings up the stands side rail to claim gallant runner-up Unforgettable Filly (14/1) who had been prominent throughout.
Poet's Vanity was another one up in the van from the off and she battled bravely in third but they couldn't cope with Daban's late burst of speed.
The major disappointment of the race was favourite Roly Poly, who was in trouble a long way from home under Ryan Moore and failed to make any impression at the business end of proceedings.
Sky Bet slashed the winner from 40/1 to 16s for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas, a double last completed in 2006 by Speciosa.
Winning trainer John Gosden said: "There's no reason we wouldn't come back for the Guineas. The owner has another filly, Dabya, and she's in here (1000 Guineas) and the Fred Darling. Dabya's been to France and we want to see how they go, I was happy with how she breezed this morning.
"I asked Frankie whether Daban would stay the mile and he felt she would and that's all I need to hear.
"Obviously the highly-rated, well-fancied fillies disappointed quite early in the race but I do like the second and I was most impressed with the third when she won at Salisbury last year.
"It's easy to knock it (the form), but I think they're talented fillies. We'll see what the Fred Darling has to offer and then we'll see which fillies turn up fresh for the Classic without a run."
Dettori said: "It is the first time I've ridden her. Her home work has been good.
"She travelled brilliantly, she showed a good turn of foot and she can only improve. It was only her second start. She showed a good attitude.
"John said she had a good turn of foot and if that if we were in reach at the dip, she'd find you another gear and she did. She can only improve. She has won her trial and she's entitled to give it (the 1000 Guineas) a go."
Hugo Palmer, trainer of Unforgettable Filly, said: "That will bring her on a ton and she possibly got a tiny bit tired.
"You could see beforehand she was one of the more backward so I'd like to think you'll see a very different filly on Guineas day. She should have a live each-way chance, anyway."
