2pts win Headline Numbers at 6/4 or better – Aqueduct race 7 (20:39)
Manny Franco has a good book of rides at Aqueduct today and I like the chances of HEADLINE NUMBERS. She goes in the allowance optional claimer over seven furlongs carded as race seven.
Trained by Chad Brown, the filly has had three runs to date. She won by over 11 lengths on debut at this track in July before being handed the race by the stewards next out at Saratoga. She was beaten just under a length by Camera but that one was disqualified and placed third, though the pair had pulled well clear of the rest.
Enough was thought of her to go up in class to contest the Grade 2 Mother Goose back at this track when last seen in October. Although she came last of five, she was beaten less than 2 lengths in a muddling race, rendering it form not to take at face value.
Headline Numbers is well bred being by Gun Runner out of a Curlin mare. She’s put up big numbers on each of her runs on the speedfigures I use and I don’t see today’s drop in distance being a problem.
