It’s a good card at Gowran Park today with the rescheduled Coolmore Stud No Nay Never Fairy Bridge Stakes taking centre stage at 1.35.

Champers Elysees is a very worthy favourite for the Group 3 and I’m loathe to take her on, even if her draw in stall 12 is less than ideal.

I was going to put up Magnanimous in the first but he’s a non-runner, so there’s just the one selection and that’s SPRUCE MEADOWS each-way (13/2 General 1/4 1,2,3) in the Mansionbet Handicap at 3.35.

Trained by Johnny Feane, his horses have been in very good form, and on paper Spruce Meadows has two lengths to find with Lightning Amber on their run at Leopardstown.

However, Spruce Meadows was not in the ideal spot that day, given the way the race developed and was switched out as the race quickened with the winner and the second getting away from him.

He finished off strongly in the last furlong and if things fall better for him today he’s a good each-way alternative to the likes of Lightning Amber and Zoom Zoom Babe.

He’s a winner at Gowran on testing ground, he’s a Dundalk winner, but most of his wins have been around this time of year in September.

To me, he looks like he’s just coming good at his time of year and he’s worth an each-way wager.
