Two bets for me at Dundalk today starting with race one, number one, and IRISH POSEIDON.

I think he's got away quite well with a 3lb rise for his win over course and distance last month. He'd been an unlucky loser over 10 furlongs on his first start in Ireland when beaten just a neck.

He duly went two places better last time and just held on as the 11/10 favourite. It looked tight at the line but he did a lot of the early running and I actually think he was fair value for the victory.

The stable continues to bang the winners in and they've decided to put cheekpieces on Irish Poseidon which I think might help draw out a little more improvement. He's a strong fancy.

The mile maiden is really interesting and newcomer Ruling - a son of Camelot - has entries in the English and Irish Derby next season. But I'd always be a touch wary about Joseph O'Brien's first time out, so with him already 11/10 favourite I'll just about sit the race out.

Bear Story looks set to give him plenty to think about anyway.

The six furlong handicap at 7.00 is a cracking heat and Alfredo Arcano should give a good account as he looks to follow up last year's win in the race, now sporting a first-time visor.

But I'm very interested in INDEPENDENT MISSY, who is drawn in stall one. She got impeded by the reopposing winner Master Matt here last time, drifting out in front of her, and 5lb claimer Mikey Sheehy should give her every chance of turning the tables now.

She could get the box seat from her inside draw and I'm keen on her going really close in what looks a wide-open race with a lot of pace on. It looks tailormade for her.
