The Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies Maiden isn't the hottest maiden to be run at Dundalk and I'm not overly confident when it comes to Watercolormemories, who looks a shade vulnerable despite stepping back up in trip looking a plus.
Allagar looks to have a bit of a false rating on the one good run and when you scan down the field you can pick holes in all of them. It's worth baring in mind Joseph O'Brien's reserve Hala Joud did win a barrier trial here recently but it looked one of the weaker trials to be honest.
The one I quite like it BUZZ OF NEW YORK. She shaped quite well beaten five lengths first time out and I liked her in the ring that day. She had a slowish start and got a bit blocked in, was unbalanced when switched out, but finished off fairly nicely.
She lacks experience but given the context of that race and this, the 9/1 that's still around looks alright value.
The dundalkstadium.com Handicap is a really competitive seven furlong heat and there'll be plenty of pace on. The best horse in the race could be Ger Lyons' Leadership Race but he's had a very disrupted prep after another 90-day break.
The rest are fairly exposed and while he's never delivered for us here in the past, I'll roll the dice again with column regular ICE COLD IN ALEX. Listowel and Cork probably wouldn't have suited his style the last twice and he's come down the weights a bit.
He's drawn in stall two which looks handy and he has won at this course a long time ago. It's surprising he hasn't run here for a while but he looks a bit of value too, especially with the firms paying four places.
Dark Vader might be a danger back on the polytrack but you know you'll get a run for your money from the selection.
Probably my strongest fancy on the night would be the Lyons-trained BRINJAL in the concluding handicap with Betfair and Paddy Power going four places.
She's yet to win a race - that said she's shaped well on plenty of occasions and I thought she ran very well when fifth on her second-last start. She was the one to take out of the race here in a mile maiden as she came home really well without being knocked about.
The first time tongue tie is a positive but the big one here is the first try at a mile and a half. She's a Kingman so it's not guaranteed to suit but her dam's side of the pedigree screams stamina and I'd say she could improve six or seven pounds for the trip.
If that's the case we could be in business with a bit of luck from a wide draw.
