SAPPHIRE SIROCCO showed a bit of ability in maidens and looked like one that could win a race once handicapped, but so far she’s not really been able to showcase any talent she might have, finding heavy ground at Windsor against her and then finding herself poorly placed in a slowly-run race here in January.

She raced very wide around the final turn and gave a lot of ground away but plugged on in the home straight and did appear to have a bit of running left in her at the finish.

She’s not badly bred at all, a half-sister to three winners, and it’s too early to give up on her just yet.

This looks a suitable opportunity and should be run at a better pace than last time, which will hopefully give her more chance to get into it late on.

A race that looks worth a play in, as a few of these that could be fancied on form might well have stamina issues at this trip.

Both Fullforward and Sir Laurence Graff hold solid each-way chances but neither is the easiest to win with, and so a chance is taken that SUNSET IN PARIS, a close fourth in this class at Wolverhampton last time, can take another step back in the right direction and reward punters at a level where he tends to show his true worth.

After four dreadful efforts this winter and spring where he’s barely beaten a horse home, he was beaten under two lengths last time out, and someone knew a better run was coming too; having gone off 25/1 and 28/1 on his previous two starts, he went off just 100/30.

His full record in Classified events at Lingfield reads 141 (and he’s won another at Chelmsford too) and the recent addition of a tongue-tie might just be responsible for his recent turnaround in form.
