Charlie Appleby can keep hold of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf thanks to NATIONS PRIDE who has European banker status in the penultimate race on the card.

The son of Teofilo burst onto the scene at Newmarket in the spring and was sent off 15/2 for the Derby before he flopped at Epsom.

Given time to develop by his excellent trainer, he returned at Belmont five weeks later with a second, before he took his form to another level in the Saratoga Derby, where he beat subsequent Coolmore Turf Mile winner Annapolis with ease.

An easy win in the Jockey Club Invitational at Belmont at the Big A finalised his Breeders’ Cup prep and he looks a 10-furlong horse who stays - which I like against a bunch of out and out 1m4f horses.

"He's settled, handles the turns and is a worthy favourite" Charlie Appleby on his Breeders Cup team

FLIGHTLINE – 9.40 Keeneland (Dirt)

FLIGHTLINE can confirm himself the best horse on the planet with a decisive victory in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic.

John Sadler’s son of Tapit has won his three Grade 1s over 7f, 1m and 1m2f by a combined margin of 37 lengths, earning himself Timeform’s highest-ever rating for a dirt horse with a mark of 143.

That’s 5lb clear of Cigar, second in the list, and just 4lb shy of Frankel, the highest-rated horse in Timeform history.

If he beats rivals like Life Is Good and Epicenter like he beat Country Grammar in the Pacific Classic we’re going to be in for a treat, and he looks impossible to oppose.

"He's the star of the show" - Flightline at the Breeders Cup 2022
