BRIAN BORANHA has intrigued me since being disqualified at Catterick in the late part of 2016.
I sensed he was a horse with some talent but one that has his own ideas about the game when it came to the business end of the race. He's a horse for me who doesn't like hitting the front too soon and has thrown away races or not put the required effort in to go and win his race when the jockey has asked.
The one time he did get his head in front was at Market Rasen when he had a rail to run against. Having watched the horse all year I thought this was an important factor to him running in a straight line and not getting distracted.
He has shown promise on all three chase starts and a repetition of his last run over course and distance will see him take all the beating.
If there were a couple of real tough in-form horses in this race, I would maybe look to take him on but his opposition doesn't look the strongest today.
I don't think River Intrigue gets home over this trip but he could perk up for his new surroundings.
Oriental Fixer is solid enough but doesn't overly excite from a handicapping point of view and the same applies to Always Archie.
Velvet Cognac is the dark horse and it will be interesting to see if money comes for him.
From the process of elimination BRIAN BORANHA is the selection. I'm just hoping his quirks don't prevent him from getting his head in front.
1pt win Brian Boranha in 3.25 Hexham at 9/4
