Breaking It Down: Murt Khan's horse racing tips for Fakenham and Perth

Owner and pro punter Murt Khan has a pair of tips today for the cards at Fakenham and Perth.

Recommended Bets: Breaking It Down

2.5pt win Amiral Collonges in 2.30 Fakenham at 5/2 - he should be closer to Speed Demon at the top of the market

1pt win Colla Pier in 3.45 Perth at 9/4 - the drop in grade will suit

Speed Demon was heavily backed on debut for Dan Skelton last time out.  He came up against Desert Sting who was also making his debut for a new yard and the immediate impression was that the first two home were well in front of the handicapper.

Desert Sting has disappointed since but it's hard to be too judgmental on just one one run.   However Speed Demon has been gone up eight pound in the handicap and for me at around evens he doesn't represent much value.

For me AMIRAL COLLONGES' performance last time has a bit more substance to it than Speed Demon's.

He looked the likely winner for much of the race jumping well and never looking in danger when taking up the running three fences out.  The handicapper has raised him seven pounds for his convincing win and he's still off  a relatively low mark in comparison to his early runs in the UK.

The drop down in trip is a small concern but I think there could be nice pace with That's The Deal in the race and I can see AMIRAL COLLONGES tailgating the old boy and Liam Treadwell keeping things simple.

He should be closer to Speed Demon at the top of the market and 5/2 is value.

COLLA PIER is blessed with a very high cruising speed and has a touch of class.

A recent winner on the flat, she has been highly tried over fences and I feel this drop in grade around this track will see her in the winners' enclosure once again.
