The relatively lightly raced MAX WARD is a horse who possesses a real engine.
He has gone through the ranks and I feel with the right conditions he's more than capable of maintaining that upward curve.
This race should be run at a true pace and could play into the hands of the talented eight-year-old. It's vital for a horse to get into a rhythm with their jumping at Ascot or it can become real hard work to make up ground.
If he settles into a nice racing rhythm he should enjoy a nice tow into the race. If this materialises I can see him travelling into the race smoothly and hopefully coming out on top.
CALIPTO is a horse who should enjoy today's conditions and still looks like he has better to come. He's worth a small saver.

VERDANA BLUE was on a real upward curve last year and there is every reason to believe she can continue to progress this season.
She possesses both speed and class, attributes that bode well in these conditions and she looks set to run a big race.

ARCTIC GOLD has struggled with his jumping at times both of hurdles and fences. Last time out he was backed heavily to make a winning seasonal debut but finished weakly on heavy going suggesting he may have needed the run. He's a well handicapped horse and if his jumping stands up there's no reason why he won't put in a bold showing.

The handicapper has given APTERIX some breathing space after two below-par efforts in recent weeks. Some of his best form has come when held up in soft ground, today there is some pace and his last four efforts on soft going read 1212.
He has fitness on his side over most of his rivals and is worth a small play at 14/1.
