ACTION REPLAY split two solid horses at Plumpton in January: Golden Birthday, who beat him that day and is now rated 147, and Count Meribal, who finished a short-head behind and now boasts a mark of 132.

I thought at Plumpton he was the horse to take out the race as it was run at a slow pace on a very sharp track.

Action Replay is a full-brother to Crash, who won over a few trips including 2m 4f and 2m 6f, so on paper he would've been the most inconvenienced by the sedate pace.

He reappeared earlier this season over course and distance and didn't have a great trip round. He was one paced in the finish, having run a tad keen out the back, jumping averagely before making making a move mid-race which seemed to exert a fair amount of energy.

He's an imposing sort and looks made for chasing, so off a mark of 120 on his handicap debut he's worth a small bet.

I was also tempted by Coeur Tantre as I feel he'll make into a neat chaser but the soft ground puts me off him rather. If let loose on the lead, he could still put in a bold bid.

Saffron Wells is a fascinating contender on his first start for Colin Tizzard. He didn't prove to be the most reliable of jumpers for Neil King over longer trips, but he runs over the minimum distance here so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Drumcliff didn't run badly over hurdles on his seasonal debut, but I prefer to go with the unexposed Action Replay, despite wearing the second colours of owner JP McManus.
