It's been a bit of a mixed bag from RAKAIA ROSA recently but positives can be taken from most of her recent runs.
She ran a really good race at Fontwell considering the pace she went that day, Keppel Island took her on up front and those exertions took their toll on that rival who was pulled up. Rakaia Rose herself tired in the closing stages but finished a respectable third.
Next time out at Southwell she jumped poorly but didn't run too badly and was only beaten 15 lengths into fifth.
She then ran from seven pounds out of the handicap on her next start and forced a hard pace before weakening late on at Worcester before producing a similar performance over two-and-a-half miles at Ludlow.
What I like about her chance today is that she's running over the minimum trip at a track where early pace can hold up and from an attractive mark of 92. She hasn't really been given a chance going right-handed either bar her last run at Ludlow. I do think her jumping is appreciably better this way round.
In a run of the mill 0-100 handicap chase she looks too big at 12/1.
Fair Frank was impressive on his chase debut last time out and is respected. He may also press the pace and if the horses up there end up going too quickly Mr Jim and Larkhall could be the beneficiaries.
1pt win Rakaia Rose 3.20 Leicester at 12/1
