It's no secret that Sandown's chase course is one of the least forgiving tracks in the country if a horse's jumping is not up to scratch.
There is no doubt about the potential over fences for the likes of Challonnial, Touch Kick and Bally Gilbert but they will have to be razor sharp today.
I think it may be worth sticking with a horse who recently ran a really solid race on his chase debut and JAMESON made his debut for Nigel Twiston-Davies three weeks ago at Ffos Las but simply ran into a better horse in the 157-rated West Approach.
There was a lot to like about the selection's chase debut as he was brave and measured and attacked his fences with relish. He was only beaten nine lengths and was a very nice foundation for him to build on.
Today he runs in a handicap off a mark of 129 and with further progression likely, this looks like a mark he can be very competitive off.
