Knock House can take advantage of a career-low mark and win the Read Noel Fehily at 188Bet Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle on Sunday.

Donald McCain’s charge caught the eye on a belated reappearance in the Pertemps Qualifier at Musselburgh in February, travelling strongly for a long way before finishing sixth behind Calett Mad.

He doesn’t need to take much of a step forward to be competitive here off 127 and was capable of winning from 140 over fences two seasons ago, a campaign in which he was also fourth in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham.

My Old Gold is a danger from the Nicky Richards yard but this is the weakest contest Knock House has contested for some time and with his stable continuing to tick over nicely, can take advantage of the opportunity.

Romulus Du Donjon returned to form here last time and can land the US Masters Betting at 188bet Novices’ Handicap Chase.

Rose Dobbin’s charge was outstayed by Shanroe Street and Rainy City over three miles and the return to two-and-a-half is very much in his favour.

Lorcan Murtagh claims a valuable five pounds off and that can make the difference against top weight Asking Questions, a good winner here last time but who has 12st 2lb to carry in testing ground.

Lord Napier is two from three over hurdles and on a steep upward curve so an opening mark of 123 seems to underestimate him in the 2.35 at Exeter.

Peter Bowen’s charge was impressive in justifying odds-on favouritism at Sedgefield last month and while he was found a good opportunity there, he travelled and quickened like a smart prospect.

Dinos Benefit is similarly unexposed and can chase the selection home but Lord Napier, an 80-rated handicapper on the flat before switching codes, is one to follow
