WITH the Dee Stakes and the Ormonde looking trappy enough on the second day of Chester's May meeting, your turf advisor will head intrepidly down the handicap route on Thursday beginning with JABBAROCKIE in the opening Satchell Moran Solicitors Business Interruption Claims Handicap.

Despite being an eight-year-old, the Eric Alston-trained gelding has improved with each season and returned with a game victory at Musselburgh last month when making all from the well-handicapped Zarzyni and the smart Came From The Dark who has since won at Newbury and then finished a possibly unlucky second in last week's Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.

The first three were nearly three lengths clear of fourth placed Victory Angel (who won next time) which is a lot over five furlongs, and the form looks very strong.

Well drawn that day, Jabbarockie has again got lucky with stall one on this turning five and is a worthy favourite for a trainer who has long excelled when it comes to improving older sprinters.

Later on, BAKERSBOY is fancied to confirm his potential in the Deepbridge Estate Planning Service Handicap.

Trained locally by Tom Dascombe who always targets the fixture, this half brother to the stable's flying sprinter Kachy has shown plenty of promise in just four starts so far, most notably when fifth behind Victory Heights and other much higher rated rivals at Wolverhampton (6f) in December when he stayed on well after being blocked for a run early in the home straight.

I still think the son of Oasis Dream is a nice prospect despite his subsequent effort at Lingfield on all-weather finals day when he finished only seventh behind the promising Diligent Harry after which it was reported that he had lost both a front and back shoe.

This will be a first try on turf for Bakersboy but Kachy was effective on turf as well as the all-weather (and won on this course) while another useful half brother, Gifted Ruler, was best on turf with plenty of give in the ground.

Finally, KRYPTOS is fancied to give Newmarket trainer John Berry a welcome boost, following the recent loss of his popular Brighton specialist Roy Rocket, in the Destination 2 Handicap.

After winning three times in 2017, the seven-year-old was off the track for nearly three years so it was hardly surprising that he was a bit slow to get going in 2020.

However, he seemed back to his best in the late summer/autumn when beaten just a neck and a nose behind Lawn Ranger and Strait Of Hormuz over this course and distance (he runs off the same mark now) before winning at Wolverhampton in November among several consistent efforts.

A winner at Chester in 2017, Kryptos clearly likes this tight course and should come on plenty for his reappearance fifth at Nottingham last month in a race which has worked out very well
