Harry Kane on NFL: Tottenham and England captain wants a shot at NFL after football career is over

England captain Harry Kane says he has a real desire to perform a big career change and play in the NFL one day, but not for at least another decade.

The prolific Spurs striker is a well-known fan of all things American Football, but has now insisted that his desire to one day try his hand at making it in the NFL is a real one.

Kane has been seen knocking over field goals at will whenever trying his hand with kicking an NFL ball, and although many sportsmen have joked about switching sports, Kane insists his desire is real.

"That's real, [it's] something that in 10 or 12 years, I definitely want to try," Kane told ESPN.

"It goes back to that drive to be the best. Even if I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world?"

"If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and you then play in the NFL. Would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen ever?"

Kane attended the Super Bowl in Atlanta in February, where he met one of his idols - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady - at the after party following another victory in the big game.

Brady has gone from a lowly rookie to winning six Super Bowls and arguably the greatest NFL player of all time, and Kane, who has even named one of his dogs after Brady, is a great admirer.

"I've started watching him on YouTube," Kane said.

"We'd kind of become friends but had never met. It was a bit strange. I hadn't been a fan of any team since I was young and supporting Tottenham.

"Not many people thought he'd become that good, or even play in the NFL, and he went on to become the best ever. We've had a similar path being doubted when we were younger, maybe not being the best athletes as kids.

"It was quite a big inspiration. At the time, it gave me a real boost to say, look, anything is possible. If you have that self-belief and that drive and that hunger, you can do it."
