Round four report

South Africa's Haydn Porteous overturned a two-shot deficit in the final round to win his second European Tour title in the D+D Real Czech Masters.

Porteous carded a closing 69 at Albatross Golf Resort to finish 13 under par and two shots clear of England's Lee Slattery, with Tom Lewis and Sweden's Pontus Widegren a shot further back.

Slattery's overnight lead was quickly wiped as Porteous birdied the first two holes and after dropping a shot on the fourth, the 23-year-old from Johannebusrg also birdied the seventh and ninth to move back in front.

Both men bogeyed the par-five 10th and Porteous also dropped another shot on the 11th, allowing Slattery to regain the lead with just his second birdie of the day on the 13th.

However, Porteous immediately hit back to birdie the next and produced a moment of real quality when it mattered the most, firing a superb tee shot to within two feet of the pin on the dangerous 16th.

Slattery had dropped a shot on the 15th after finding a bunker off the tee, but also birdied the 16th to keep up the pressure before making a bogey on the last after pulling his approach left of the green.

Porteous won the Joburg Open in January 2016, but a missed cut in last year's Czech Masters was the first of 14 early exits in 16 events, prompting a return to his former coach.

"It's been a really torrid time through the last eight, nine months," Porteous told Sky Sports. "I've really started doing the right things and slowly but surely the golf's got a little bit better and to get my second European Tour win under the belt feels amazing.

"When you start playing on the European Tour you start to lose yourself, you lose how you got out here in the first place. To then find yourself again is key and I can't thank my sponsors enough for helping me through thick and thin.

"I'm sure this evening's not going to be the most professional moment of my life, but there's nothing wrong with having a bit of a celebration!"

Slattery's second place means the 39-year-old from Southport is top of the Ryder Cup standings after the first qualifying event and he is 66/1 with Sky Bet to make the team next year.

Compatriot Tom Lewis and Sweden's Pontus Widegren are in joint second place in the standings after their share of third place in Prague.

Round three report

England's Lee Slattery, whose wife is eight days overdue with the couple's second child, will take a two-shot lead into the final day of the D+D Real Czech Masters.

Slattery carded a third round of 67 at Albatross Golf Resort to finish 12 under par, with South Africa's Haydn Porteous his nearest challenger after a matching 67.

Sweden's Pontus Widegren is two shots further back on eight under, with halfway leader Chris Hanson another stroke adrift alongside compatriot Jonathan Thomson.

Hanson had led an English one-two-three after the completion of the delayed second round, the 32-year-old playing 17 holes in five under par to add a 66 to his opening 68.

That gave him a three-shot lead over Slattery - with Morrison another stroke back - and birdies on the first two holes of round three quickly took Hanson four shots clear.

However, driving into a hazard on the sixth cost Hanson a double bogey and when he dropped another shot on the eighth, Slattery took full advantage with birdies on the seventh and ninth to move into the lead.

Hanson edged back in front with birdies on the 10th and 12th, but bogeyed the next two holes as Slattery picked up shots on the 13th and 15th to move closer to a third European Tour title.

A second double bogey of the day on the 18th saw Hanson sign for a disappointing 75 and leave the 32-year-old five shots off the pace.

Round two report

Huddersfield's Chris Hanson led an English one-two-three as the second round of the weather-affected D+D Real Czech Masters was completed on Saturday.

Hanson had birdied his first hole of the day to lie two shots behind clubhouse leader Lee Slattery when play was suspended due to a waterlogged course on Friday afternoon.

The 32-year-old made a further six birdies and a single bogey upon the resumption to add a 66 to his opening 68 for a halfway total of 10 under par, three ahead of Slattery who had completed a brilliant 65 in the worst of Friday's weather.

James Morrison was a shot further back on six under, a stroke ahead of Chile's Felipe Aguilar, South African Haydn Porteous and Swede Pontus Widegren.

First round leader Callum Shinkwin fell seven shots off the pace after a second round of 75, with pre-tournament favourite and 2015 champion Thomas Pieters part of a 15-strong group on two under.

That group also included 2014 winner Jamie Donaldson and defending champion Paul Peterson, who both shot 73, as well as Ryder Cup team-mates Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick.

Round one report

England's Callum Shinkwin showed no signs of rust as he carded an opening 66 to claim the lead in the D+D Real Czech Masters, the first qualifying event for next year's Ryder Cup.

Shinkwin has not played competitively since following a play-off defeat in the Scottish Open by missing the cut in the Open, but carded eight birdies and two bogeys to head the leaderboard at Albatross Golf Resort.

At six under, Shinkwin led by a shot from compatriot James Heath, South Africa's Dylan Frittelli and Sweden's Pontus Widegren, with Scotland's Craig Lee part of an eight-strong group on four under.

Defending champion Paul Peterson was a shot further back alongside 2014 winner Jamie Donaldson, with 2015 champion and last year's runner-up Thomas Pieters on one under following a 71.

Shinkwin bogeyed the 72nd hole of the Scottish Open before losing on the first play-off hole to Spain's Rafa Cabrera Bello, but the 24-year-old admitted the performance had been a major confidence boost.

"It was massive," the former English Amateur champion said. "I played the Open afterwards and missed the cut and I've had five weeks off, but the confidence has still been there, even playing at home. I didn't do too much the first few weeks but then I got back out there and was still swinging it well which was quite nice. I played pretty solid, got off to a nice start, played the par fives well and holed my fair share of putts."

While Ryder Cup qualifying will now be on the minds of European players, South African Frittelli has his sights set on staking a claim for a place on the International team for next month's Presidents Cup.

Even a second European Tour title of the season would not be enough to qualify automatically, but captain Nick Price will select two wild cards to complete his 12-man side next Wednesday.

"Every international player wants to make that team so I'm going to try and make a statement this week and give Nick Price a reason to look at me," said Frittelli, who will be closely watched by assistant captain Tony Johnstone, in Prague in his role as a television commentator.

"I saw Tony (on Wednesday) on the course and we chatted a little bit but I tried to avoid the subject just to not be partisan in any way! But hopefully I can play well this week and make it an easier decision for them."

England's Eddie Pepperell looked certain to overhaul Shinkwin when he played his first eight holes in six under par thanks to an eagle and four birdies, but the 26-year-old carded two double bogeys on his back nine to finish three under.
