Aston Villa transfer news: Villa break club record to sign Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes from Belgian side Club Brugge


Aston Villa will break their club record transfer fee to sign Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes from Belgian side Club Brugge for a reported £22m.

Newly-promoted Villa have agreed on the fee, reported to be £22 million, with Club Brugge for Wesley, and are now just waiting to international clearance and a work permit.

The 22-year-old has played Champions League and Europa League football with Brugge, scoring in back-to-back Champions League games last season.

Wesley has won two Belgian Jupiler League titles and two Super Cups in four season with Brugge, and scored 17 goals last season.

The six-foot-three striker has an obvious aerial threat and has also scooped the Young Player of the Year award in Belgium during his successful spell in Brugge.

Despite being the last side promoted from the Sky Bet Championship via the play-offs, Villa are making quick mves to prepare for the Premier League, having also tied down Anwar El Ghazi on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell.
