Liverpool win Premier League: Jurgen Klopp in tears after Reds win first Premier League title and 19th league championship

An emotional Jurgen Klopp broke down in tears and described being overwhelmed by Liverpool winning the Premier League title.

Man City's defeat at Chelsea saw Liverpool crowned Premier League champions for the first time, and claim a 19th league title overall - a well-documented 30 years after their last.

The Liverpool squad and staff gathered at a hotel to watch the Man City game, and as celebrations broke out after the final whistle Klopp could not contain his emotions.

Under the German, Liverpool have lost just two games in almost two seasons, coming within a point of City last season in an epic title race before going on to dominate this time around.

"This is a big moment, I have no real words. I am completely overwhelmed. I never thought I would feel like this," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"It's very important to celebrate because these moments are unforgettable," said Klopp. "We have pictures from the season and now we have pictures of the celebrations and we will create pictures in the future with the parade with our supporters.

"The boys have time together tonight. It's difficult out there still for a lot of people but tonight we couldn't hold back, we had to come together."

Captain Jordan Henderson was equally as emotional when he appeared to talk about their title success .

Henderson had one of the most difficult jobs in football when taking the armband from Steven Gerrard, but he since gone on to become European, World and now Premier League champion.

Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry paid tribute to the team's "magnificent achievement".

The American, head of Fenway Sports Group, tweeted: "This was a season for the ages and for the faithful of Liverpool Football Club.

"It has been an incredible year of magnificent achievement culminating tonight in capturing the Premier League title.

"This in addition to winning a European championship, a Super Cup and a world championship - the totality of this accomplishment has brought respite and joy to so many in a year filled with so much tragedy.

"LFC has made the beautiful game more beautiful than ever."
