Crystal Palace v Leicester

Ayoze Perez hit a hat-trick as Leicester hammered Southampton 9-0 at St Mary's

Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace have so far exceeded expectations this season, going into the weekend in sixth, but Leicester are flying high in third and everything is going well for Brendan Rodgers at the minute.

They are in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup and their last outing was a 9-0 thrashing of Southampton. Yes, their opponents were poor but the Foxes played some excellent stuff and they will take some stopping at Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson will be keener than ever to see his side avoid a sending off - Leicester's thrashings this season against the Saints and Newcastle (5-0) both came against 10 men. Palace are set up well under Hodgson and will look to keep it tight after conceding two at Arsenal (three if you count Sokratis' unfortunate disallowed strike), but even backing the visitors to net two or more at odds-against looks a decent price.

But there are two more eye-catching prices in the scoring markets.

The first, on in-form Youri Tielemans. The Belgian playmaker has been impressive since arriving, initially on loan in January, and he is in a good vein of form having scored in his last four appearances for club and country.

The 22-year-old plays an advanced midfield role, makes late runs into the box and is not afraid to shoot from distance. In fact, he just isn't afraid to shoot, averaging over two per game in the league this term. Given these stats and his current form, the 9/2 anytime price on him is generous and surely worth a small play.

The other is on Leicester to score in both halves. While it may not be a high-scoring clash, they may need a couple to seal the three points and they arguably have the ability to do so.

They have scored in both halves on five occasions this season - 50% of their games so far and only Man City have achieved more. They are best priced at 13/5 to do so on Sunday and while they are flying high it is not a big ask.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Leicester (Sky Bet odds: 8/1)

Best bets

Youri Tielemans to score anytime at 9/2

Leicester to score in both halves at 13/5

Key stats

  • Leicester have lost four of their seven Premier League away games against Crystal Palace, failing to score in each defeat. However, they’ve never lost away at Palace in the competition when they’ve found the net (W2 D1).
  • Following his hat-trick at Southampton last time out, Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is the top scoring Premier League player this season coming into this round of matches (9). His nine goals have come from just 20 shots in total, giving him a conversion rate of 45%, the highest of any player to have had at least 10 attempts.
  • Four of James Maddison’s five goal involvements for Leicester in the Premier League this season have come in away games (2 goals, 2 assists).

Everton v Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino: Spurs boss should take the game to Everton

Two sides who spent big in the summer and now massively underachieving with both managers coming under scrutiny.

Everton have been consistently inconsistent. The atmosphere at Goodison Park was tense in midweek after scraping past Watford with a strong team and the pressure is growing on Marco Silva. When they have needed big performances in their last two home games in the league against Man City and West Ham, they have delivered though and it will be interesting to see their approach here.

Tottenham, meanwhile, look a shadow of their former selves under Mauricio Pochettino this season. Just before Christmas last year, they won this fixture 6-2 on Merseyside, but now they cannot buy an away win - without one now in their last 11 Premier League games.

Dele Alli, as Roy Keane said so honestly, looks off the pace, Christian Eriksen looks uninterested and they need to turn it around sooner or later. But their away performance last week at Liverpool was decent and if they perform in a similar fashion they can get something at Goodison.

It really is a tough one to call, but the visitors can, in a win or high-scoring draw, grab two goals against an Everton defence which has already conceded seven at home this season and you can back them to score two or more at 5/4.

Tottenham have been bad, but Everton have been worse. Mauricio Pochettino's side can put in another battling display on Merseyside to come away with something.

Prediction: Everton 2-2 Spurs (Sky Bet odds: 12/1)

Best bet: Tottenham to score 2+ goals at 5/4

Key stats

  • Everton have lost their last two home league games against Spurs by an aggregate score of 2-9 (0-3 and 2-6). They’ve never lost three consecutive top-flight home games by a margin of 3+ goals against an opponent before.
  • Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 13 Premier League games against Everton (W7 D6), their joint-longest such run against the Toffees in the top-flight (also 13 between 1997-2003).
  • Everton have lost five of their last six Premier League games (W1), winning fewer points in the competition in that period than any other side (3).
  • Tottenham’s Harry Kane has scored two goals in each of his last four Premier League appearances against Everton – no player has ever scored 2+ goals in five consecutive games against an opponent in the competition’s history.
  • Christian Eriksen has scored in each of his last four Premier League appearances for Spurs against Everton. He’s scored five in total against the Toffees in the competition, only against Swansea (6) has he netted more.

Why are Spurs duo struggling?

Ahead of Sunday's trip to Everton, we discuss why Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are both coming under fire for their performances this season.
